Program Notes:

Distant Sea is the first in a series of pieces inspired by recurring dreams of places. In these dreams, the East and West Coast of the United States are blended into strange, contradictory amalgams, in which orca whales swim in the Hudson River, and harsh snowcapped mountains loom over green New England hills. Distant Sea is inspired by an archetypical element within these dreams; the ever-looming presence of a vast ocean, often unseen.
